Desert Cactus Waterfall Buffet

Desert Cactus Waterfall Buffet

Sometimes a challenge comes along.

I really liked the decals that were on the drawer of the buffet that I was getting ready to paint.

So I tried a technique that was new to me.
Petroleum jelly painted over the decal.

Once I painted with the jelly over the decals it was time to get painting.

Now to choose the color.

The last couple of months I've been breaking out of my comfort zone on so many levels(not all of it my own choosing).

I decided that Desert Cactus from American Paint Company would be the perfect color for the buffet.
Not my favorite color when looking at it in the container though.
Definitely not in my comfort zone either and on such a big piece too.

Risk taker that I am (not), I decided to go for it.

First coat went on and I knew I had picked the right color.

Once the second coat dried and Mr. Smith started sanding it I knew that I had made the right decision.

Isn't she pretty?

Clear wax and buffing-done!

Ready for a new home.

Glad I took a risk!
